Router backup power: checks before sourcing a batch
Prepare router and optical terminal models, power requirements and your expected operating time during an outage.

List every device that needs power
List the whole connection at home: router, separate optical terminal or modem, and any necessary network nodes. Powering only the router does not power the other devices. Ask your provider whether its network will remain available during an outage; a battery at home cannot guarantee this.
- Record device models and hardware versions.
- Provide power-label photos with Wi-Fi passwords and serial numbers hidden.
- State the hours required and which devices must run together.
Match the power requirements
In its reply about the Archer MR600, TP-Link recommends the original adapter or power with matching specifications. This is advice for one model, not approval of any mini UPS. [1] Ask the supplier to confirm compatibility for your own equipment in writing.
- Check voltage, required current, polarity and connector dimensions against device documentation.
- For multiple outputs, confirm per-port limits and total load.
- A similar-looking plug or an adapter alone does not establish compatibility.
Compare runtime under the same conditions
Request a test with your device combination or a measured equivalent load. “Up to 8 hours” without test conditions does not make two products comparable. The current rating on an adapter is not a measurement of a router’s continuous consumption.
- Confirm the initial charge, connected devices and test end point.
- Request capacity in Wh and its measurement conditions, not just mAh.
- Ask separately about recharge time and operation while charging.
Test changeover on a sample
Before buying a batch, agree a sample test following manufacturer instructions. Check whether network equipment restarts when switching to battery and back to mains. This is a proposed acceptance check, not a promise of uninterrupted internet.
- Record router and terminal behaviour in both directions.
- Ask whether the backup unit shuts down automatically at low loads.
- Agree included accessories, warranty and replacement of a faulty sample.
Send a specific quote request
Include the product link, quantity and preferred arrival date in the quote form. In the notes, list device models, each power input’s requirements, desired runtime and whether you need a sample. Transport acceptance for a battery product is confirmed separately.
