Describe the task before choosing capacity
Running a laptop and lights from a standalone station differs from backing up household circuits. First define the appliances, operating time and intended use. Involve a qualified system designer or installer before selecting a fixed home system.
- Separate essential and optional loads.
- Identify appliances that start and run at the same time.
- Describe the location, available space and charging source.
W and Wh answer different questions
W describes power, while Wh describes stored energy. Power-station specifications also distinguish continuous and surge output. [1] As a preliminary calculation, 40 W for 5 hours requires 200 Wh at the load. This arithmetic example excludes losses, self-consumption and reserve; it is not a sufficient nameplate battery capacity for a finished product.
- Request continuous output and the conditions of the surge rating.
- Do not substitute a marketed output-boost mode for normal output capacity.
- Ask for usable energy at the required output and test conditions.
Check the complete system
For a portable station, list the outputs, cables and charger required. For a home system, request a coordinated specification for the battery, inverter and other components from the responsible provider. The LiFePO4 label alone does not establish compatibility.
- Check exact models, versions and manufacturer documentation.
- Confirm permitted expansion and compatible additional batteries.
- Ask for operating and charging temperature limits.
Compare delivery and after-sales support
Separate equipment, cables, agreed checks, packaging, freight and installation in the offer. Establish who handles warranty claims locally and who pays return shipping. Transport acceptance and dates depend on the actual equipment and route.
- Request warranty terms, spare-part availability and diagnostic procedures.
- Confirm what commissioning and user training include.
- Agree sample or project acceptance criteria before payment.
Prepare a short technical brief
In the quote notes, describe the use case, appliances, known consumption, desired runtime, number of systems and destination city. Mark unknown specifications as needing verification. The form prepares an enquiry and does not replace system design.
- Attach appliance-label photos without personal information.
- Provide a budget and preferred date without treating it as a confirmed lead time.
- Say whether a local installer and service provider have been selected.
