A clothing trial order from China: sizes, samples and reorders
Build a variant list, check a sample and agree substitution rules before increasing your order.
One design, several separate variants
This is an editorial workflow for preparing a purchase. Give each combination of design, colour and size its own row. A request for “50 T-shirts” does not specify which items the seller should send. Validate the size mix against your own customers rather than copying a mix from another market.
- Record the link, seller SKU, colour, size and quantity.
- For example: design A / black / M / 5 units is a record format, not a recommended order size.
- Keep a photo of the selected variant with the list.
Compare measurements, not just size letters
Ask whether the chart describes body measurements or the finished garment. Agree measurement points and units. Circumference and the width of a garment laid flat are different measures; clarify them before comparing.
- For tops: chest width, garment length, shoulders and sleeves.
- For trousers: waist, hips, rise and inseam.
- For footwear: establish whether the size refers to foot length or insole length.
Use the sample as a reference
Record the approved sample’s SKU, fabric composition, colour, measurements and photos. Agree separately which checks the seller and warehouse will perform. Photos help assess appearance, but do not establish fibre composition or colourfastness after washing.
- Check seams, fasteners, labels and included pieces.
- Agree acceptable variations and what happens if the goods differ.
- Do not treat a sample as a guarantee that every later batch is identical.
Reorder against demonstrated demand
After the trial, compare sales, returns and remaining stock for each variant. A lower unit price for a larger batch may offer little value if some sizes remain unsold. Reconfirm the material, size chart and availability before reordering.
- Include your variant list and budget in the quote request.
- Say whether you need a sample and whether split shipments are acceptable.
- Approve colour, fabric or model substitutions before purchasing.
